In 2015 SALT prepared a precinct structure plan for Paynesville, Victoria. This plan includes design of key road intersections and covers Paynesville’s ‘growth area’. That is, an area that starts from the underdeveloped eastern edge of Paynesville.
Our plan assesses current traffic impacts and projects future traffic volumes and patterns. To test different growth scenarios, we used traffic generation surveys to develop and validate a traffic model of existing conditions.
Preparation of the Paynesville structure plan also involved consultation, engagement and valuation of competing stakeholder objectives – such as those of developers and VicRoads.
Using this feedback we developed a sustainable transport network plan that encourages pedestrian and bicycle travel. We also helped cost these infrastructure improvements for a developer contribution scheme.
